Forest
As a child I spent a lot of time in the forest. My parents, who were both geographers, had a cabin in the forest and my family went there as often as we could. Although the memory of it has always lived with me, it was only recently, after my trip to Mexico, that the imagery of forest and jungle invaded my creative thinking and I wanted to express the atmosphere of so many slow days in the forest.
The mystery of the forest, the complicated magical support system between the trees and the connecting roots, stimulate the stories and fairy tales, creating a crowd of images in my head. But just like the forest, I am taking it slowly, allowing the images to emerge out of the chaos of spontaneous mark making.
